Dear friends, colleagues, fans, associates,
The absence of live interaction in music is unbearable. Music is the energy I have to dive in, in order to survive mentally. I kept on working (recording, composing, etc) and a lot is happening. Here an update:

The Museum Speelklok and I join forces regarding a new world music series in a new concept: During four evenings I’ll meet artists from different musical traditions. These performances will be hosted by an intermediator who not only opens with a solo performance (music/poetry/dance) but also interacts during the whole evening. Museum Speelklok is a gorgeous venue: a former church and now a Museum specializing in self-playing musical instruments. Mark the dates: Saturday evenings on October 17th, November 14th, December 12th, January 23rd.

Proud to make part of a new collective of exciting Utrecht based musicians on ‘adventurous music’: GIST! (Dutch for Yeast).
We gather to unite, share, talk, inspire, jam and perform. The spirits blessed us and our efforts resulted in our very first GIST! Festival which takes place september 3rd in the Museum Speelklok in Utrecht. There are special guests, balcony shouting scenes and performances.
Best of all is: this festival will be followed by a concert series Friday evenings on October 9th, November 6st, December 4th, January 8th.

Interview and debate
There was quite some airplay of my music during Corona. Also Rinus van der Heijden interviewed me regarding my life during Corona and social isolation. It is published on Jazznu. Check it out, it is fun (in Dutch).
Though I rejected doing online streaming concerts I did surrender for one online date: I participated in a debate on a musician’s life during Corona broadcasted from Haarlem at the Pletterij. As part of the government board of the Union For Improvising Musicians BIM I contribute in a broader perspective.

Jazz On The Sofa
My Jazz On The Sofa festival sees its 5th edition november 1st this year. Due to Corona in a different setting but with new partners: the castle of Zeist, a church and an interior shop with sofa’s. Our festival is rescued and it will be gorgeous! Safe the date: 11/1/2020.

Musicians Cook
I created a private Facebook group in order to also have some fun during Corona. It is a colorful community of classical, free improvising, folk, surf, contemporary, world, jazz, rock musicians from all over the globe. Food does connect on a human level. If you are a professional musician and into cooking: have a look.

The past months I should have toured in Taiwan, Okinawa, The Netherlands and Poland. All of my concerts were canceled, a few postponed. What is left you find here:
NYC Jazz Record Crossword
Lol. The april edition of the NYC Jazz Records magazine featured me in their crossword. It won’t get any better, right? In excellent company there.
