Dear friends, colleagues, associates,
You probably noticed that my first attempt failed. Here an new attempt for a ‘readable’ newsletter. Please excuse the inconvenience I caused.
I worked this year on my releases – 3 CD’s in the past 14 months – and on new ideas. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, not ready yet to publish.
I am busy with promoting my living room festival around the castle of Zeist in cutting edge jazz n world. It is an intimate festival in great locations. Musicians hail from Portugal, Brazil, Slovenia, Germany and Holland and I think they are gorgeous:
Kaja Draksler (solo)
Lilian Viera/Tato Morales
Bert Lochs/Dirk Balthaus
Martien Oster/Marius Beets
Nelson Cascais/Mark Lotz
WonderYears Trio
(with the fresh Boy Edgar award 2019 winner Jasper Blom)
Sunday november 3rd, 15.00 o’clock.
The amounts of tickets is limited. I advice to order tickets in advance.

As part of the government board of the BIM (an union for improvising musicians) I worked quite hard for this one. An award given by musicians to a small jazz organization out there in the province. Improvisation is alive and kicking and no better BIM Podium Award announcement party to think of than celebrating it with this 40’th BIM-lab edition. October 14th at 20.00 o’clock at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam.

Concertzender radio started in august a series of four broadcast where I present CD’s, musicians gave me during my tours through the globe. An extraordinary collection of recordings often not commercially available. Special music I have a personal relation with. I have handed this collection as a gift to the concertzender but in this series I highlight some of the music together with Ton Maas.
Latst broadcast was friday oktober 25th.
Broadcast september 27th • Broadcast august 23 • Broadcast july 26
The CD ‚The Wroclaw Sessions‘ still gets ridiculous reviews. It was featured twice – in the july and august editions – at the New York City Jazz Record Magazine in in their ‚Recommended New Releases’. According to ‘All About Jazz’ it brings sexy back to jazz.

Special gig: James Elmer Spyglass (1877-1957) was an Afro-American entertainer/vocalist who brought jazz to Utrecht exactly 100 years ago. I was asked to perform a contemporary re-interpretation of his tune ‚Waardering‘ in november 24th, 15.00 o’clock @ BAK, Utrecht.
